Guidelines For Free Entry To National Parks And Captive Wildlife Facilities For Kenyan Citizens On 27th September 2025 To Mark The 2025 UNWTO World Tourism Day And Week
To observe the UNWTO World Tourism Day and Week, the Government of Kenya has waived entry fees for Kenyan citizens to National Parks, Reserves and Sanctuaries on 27th September 2025 to appreciate Kenyans for their continued commitment in conserving wildlife in the country as one of the Kenya’s Pride.
In view of the above, the following guidelines shall apply to ensure smooth facilitation of Kenya Citizens to enter National Parks, Reserves, Nairobi Animal Orphanage, Nairobi Safariwalk and Kisumu Impala Sanctuary:
- Access :The free entry shall apply only to national parks, reserves and sanctuaries managed by Kenya Wildlife Service as listed below:-

- Access to the national parks and reserves shall be by vehicle.
- Access to the Nairobi Animal Orphanage, Nairobi Safariwalk and Kisumu Impala Sanctuary shall be by foot
- Entry will be from 6:00 am and exit by 6:30pm
- Eligibility: This offer is exclusively for Kenya citizens and their vehicles. All Kenyans above the age of eighteen must present valid identification (e.g., ID card or passport) at the entrance for verification.
- Compliance: Visitors are expected to adhere to the rules and regulations in respect to accessing Parks, Reserves and Sanctuaries. Pamphlets for the rules and regulations will be distributed to each vehicle to guide and enable adherence. In particular, the following shall be observed:
- Obedience of the guidance and instructions that will be issued by KWS staff at the points of entry.
- Orderliness
- National parks and reserves are plastic free and no single use plastics will be allowed in
- The prescribed speed limits
- No driving off the designated roads
- No getting out of the vehicles except at designated locations,
- No disturbance to wildlife,
- No hooting inside the national park and reserve,
- No loud sound or noise
- Not to approach or move close to wild animals
- No littering
- Special activities: free entry is only for game drive, wildlife viewing in captive wildlife facilities and is not applicable to some specific special activities, such as guided tours, events, camping etc. These will attract applicable fees.
- The citizen clients who had pre-paid to visit on 27th September 2025 will be processed in the system (entered and exited) no rescheduling of their tickets.
- Tour vehicles with non-citizens tourists on-board shall pay the applicable entry fee for the vehicle and the visitors, while the Kenyan drivers are exempted.
