The Deputy Assistant Administrator, USAID Bureau for Economic Growth, Education, and Environment, Ms. Carrie Thompson and USAID Forestry and Biodiversity Office, Ms. Cynthia Gill made a three-day official business visit to Kenya between May 22-25, 2017.
The itinerary included a visit to the Nairobi National Park, which has become a “must visit” destination to many dignitaries visiting the country.

A cross-border aerial census for elephants and buffalos between Kenya and Tanzania has been launched today in Narok.

The two-week Mara-Serengeti census is being held to determine the numbers of elephants and buffalos in the ecosystem, their distribution, trends as well as human activities.

A 617-km walk from Nairobi to Marsabit to raise public awareness about wildlife conservation was flagged off at the weekend.

The colourful launch at the main entrance of the Nairobi National Museum in Nairobi, saw brisk trade in T-shirts - each retailing for 1,000 shillings - emblazoned with the words, “Ivory belongs to the Elephants.”  

WIOCC DONATES DRUGS AND CONSUMABLES TO KWS

West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC) has extended support to African lions by donating drugs and consumables worth Ksh. 500,000 to Kenya Wildlife Service.

The donation was received by Kenya Wildlife Service’s Head of Veterinary services Dr. Francis Gakuya on March 16, 2017 at the organization’s headquarters in Nairobi.

The colourful occasion presided over by Ireland ambassador to Kenya, Dr Vincent O’Neill also marked the beginning of the campaign #GreenRhinos as part of global St Patrick’s celebrations.
