TWO CHINESE ARRESTED FOR TRAFFICKING ILLEGAL WILDLIFE TROPHIES

Two Chinese nationals were on April 4, 2016 arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport ( JKIA) for trafficking assorted illegal wildlife trophies.

The suspects, Yang Yu and Xu Miaohong were nabbed at the airport by KWS canine unit security personnel in collaboration with other security organs at the airport while on transit from Lagos by KQ 533 to Guangzou by KQ 870 via JKIA.

The first suspect, Yang Yu was arrested for trafficking one  ivory bangle weighing 0.06 grams, while the second one, Xu Miaohong was in possession of two pieces of raw ivory, one ivory bangle, one ivory comb, all weighing a total of 1.04 kilogrammes  and 500 grams of pangolin scales.

The two were booked at JKIA police station
